176 Patriots Point Rd
Mt Pleasant, SC 29464
The Mount Pleasant Chamber of Commerce welcomes Mac Burdette, executive director of Patriots Point and former Mount Pleasant town administrator, as the speaker at the Chamber’s April 18 luncheon.
Patriots Point is one of South Carolina’s most popular tourist attractions – 308,000 people visited the USS Yorktown, the USS Laffey and The Vietnam Experience last year. Burdette is responsible for the operation and management of the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum and for the development of almost 400 acres of property on Charleston Harbor.
Burdette will update the development vision for Patriots Point, including the Bennett plan, the Medal of Honor Museum proposal and other opportunities and issues. Ultimately, Patriots Point will be the largest single commercial development in the town of Mount Pleasant if the vision becomes reality. It will also be a huge contributor to the Mount Pleasant, Charleston County and the Charleston School District tax and revenue base.
Before assuming the duties of executive director at Patriots Point in 2010, Burdette served for 25 years as Mount Pleasant’s town administrator. He earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Clemson University and retired from the U.S. Army Reserves as a colonel in 2003. During the Persian Gulf War, he served in Saudi Arabia.
